It seems, for me, that creating art is like breathing oxygen; as it's a necessary response to living. I have a relatively long attention span when creating paintings, drawings assemblages and jewelry. I like to work within a series. After a period in the 1990's of having a severe artist's block, the work comes easily and truthfully. I can't remember when I was last bored; I don't take this for granted.

My work is about dreams, memories, short snippets of conversation heard while passing people on the sidewalk, my spiritual beliefs, my interest in the world, universe and micro organisms so beautiful that watching them through the microscope is like poetry and more. My art reflects my personal joys, times of anger or depression; in short, whatever comes up in my life, often before it happens, is mirrored somehow in my art. The work becomes a separate entity with its own history. I guide the creative process while the process leads me. It's like a vacation driven on the "back roads".
Teaching has helped my creative process tremendously. I learn from my students and within the classroom environment, we create together, often I come home with new heartfelt, creative and technical knowledge.
